Who We Are
You are about to trust us with something tender. You should know who we are.
Founder of Held by Daisy · Author of Until Next Time
Lori spent more than four decades as an educator, work that taught her how to sit beside people in hard moments and help them feel safe. She brings that same steadiness here.
On July 10, 1990, her infant son Robbie died. For a long time she carried that grief quietly, the way so many women are taught to. Eventually she wrote it down, first for herself and then for anyone who needed to know they were not alone. That became her memoir, Until Next Time.
Held by Daisy grew from the same hope. Lori created the place she did not have, so that no woman would have to sit alone in a quiet house wondering whether her grief was too much.
The name comes from her mother. When Lori lost Robbie, her mother sat with her in the grief and did not try to fix it. She simply stayed. She also loved daisies.
One woman who is held in her grief becomes the woman who holds the next one. Held by Daisy is her mother’s legacy of love, carried forward and offered on.
She lives in Barrie, Ontario, and believes that finding one thing to love changes everything.

She teaches children, teens, parents, and families effective strategies and coping skills to enrich their lives and navigate challenges with confidence and hope. She also works with adults living with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, work she finds deeply rewarding.
Wendy advises on the development of our programs. She does not provide counselling through Held by Daisy.
Retired Registered Nurse
Gail graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for over forty years. She began her career as a paediatric nurse at Sick Kids in Toronto, then moved into the community as a Public Health Nurse with Toronto Public Health.
Her varied roles across hospital and community settings brought continuous learning and professional growth, and included supporting clients through loss and grief.
Gail also knows this loss from inside her own family. When her sister’s six-week-old son died, there was nothing like Held by Daisy to turn to. That absence is part of why she helps build it now.
When Lori asked her to consult on Held by Daisy, Gail was thrilled to bring the program development and communication skills of a long career to creating a resource that supports women on their own unique grief journey.
Held by Daisy is companionship, education, and community. It is a place to be witnessed by women who understand.
It is not therapy, and it is not clinical care. Those are two different kinds of help, and you are allowed to need both.
